Sobre Rana A.
Rana is building resilience of children and youth in facing earthquake disaster situations.
Rana understands that living in a disaster-prone area like Bandung means that everyone must know how to protect themselves during earthquakes, which can happen anytime. Children and young people are among vulnerable groups that need to understand how to safeguard themselves during earthquakes. Rana contacts kindergarten and schools around her to conduct workshops on disaster preparedness. She named the initiative "Jabar Tapa," an effort that creates materials suitable for each age group and conducts workshops. Meanwhile, she also activates teenagers like herself to become peer educators on disaster preparedness via webinar and offline workshops, in collaboration with Children Forum and UNICEF.
Rana hopes that the information and practical guides she has delivered in the workshops can be passed on by the children to their parents and their community. So far, her efforts have directly engaged 130 young individuals as peer educators in disaster preparedness and reached 57 children in kindergarten.
