Sobre Grestine D.
Grestine is creating awareness on the danger of smoking and the establishment of no-smoking-areas on campus and beyond.
Grestine experienced the health problems from tobacco firsthand, as her own father died due to an illness that partly linked to tobacco. In Indonesia, her father is not an exceptional example. There are 70 million active smokers in Indonesia, including 14,571 smokers who are below the age of 18. Grestine created PARTY (Passionate, Action, and Responsibility about Tobacco by Youth); a platform that empowers teenagers to advocate against smoking. Through PARTY, Grestine not only promotes the danger of smoking, but also advocates for establishing no-smoking-area on her campus and beyond.
Activities that Grestine did through PARTY have engaged over 600 individuals, including teenagers and key policymakers such as the Semarang City Health Department, the Semarang House of Representatives, and mayoral candidates. These efforts have broadened teenagers’ perspectives on smoking risks and inspired them to become agents of change. PARTY has also amplified compliance with Non-Smoking Area policies on campuses. They continue to monitor and advance this issue actively.
