About Giovana
With the Associação de Apoio à Saúde do Atleta, Giovana provides medical support, access to information, and educational opportunities to low-income athletes.
Giovana is a young athlete and social entrepreneur from Salvador, Bahia, and the founder of AASA – Athlete Health Support Association, the first youth-led initiative in Brazil focused on expanding health access for low-income student-athletes.
After facing unsafe training conditions, long commutes, and lack of medical care, Giovana created AASA to connect athletes to volunteer sports medicine professionals, offer telemedicine services, and promote education on nutrition and opportunities in sports.
The initiative has already launched the podcast Caminho de Areia (Sand’s Way), organized health-focused events, and reached athletes across remote regions.
Now preparing to formalize its legal status, AASA is scaling through partnerships with schools and universities—proving that collective action and youth leadership can transform structural inequality in sports.
