Launching Ashoka Nordic's Special Podcast - Diversity & Inclusion
As the world celebrates International Women’s Day, we are proud to celebrate with you our first special episode of a podcast series developed in collaboration with Leading with social impact*. In this first episode, Sofia Appelgren - leading female social entrepreneur, Ashoka Fellow and founder of Mitt Liv - reflects on her Changemaking journey, the field of social entrepreneurship as well as diversity and inclusion in Sweden and across borders.
We cannot look back on the past 10 years without celebrating the progress of our 24 Ashoka Fellows, leading social entrepreneurs that play a central role in our community and embody our vision of “Everyone a changemaker”.
Sofia Appelgren was the first Ashoka Fellow selected in Sweden in 2010, and we are very proud to have supported her since then: from financial support to strategy development support via our different partners; to supporting her growth as a leader, providing her with replication opportunities in other markets and now working closely with Sofia and Mitt Liv's team to accelerate their systems change journey through Ashoka and Ikea Social Entreprenuership’s Dela programme. Sofia is now planning to multiply her impact by coming together with other social entrepreneurs who are also working in the inclusion field, to put more focus, pressure and energy behind the issues of diversity and equality in Sweden and across borders.
Ashoka Fellows provide examples, ideas, and insights that can serve as a roadmap in the new “everyone a changemaker” world. During the last decade, Ashoka Fellowship has supported leading social entrepreneurs in the Nordics by increasing their sense of belonging to a broad community of Changemakers, supporting them in their organizational growth and strengthening their identity while helping them to increase the impact of their organizations.
By continuing to develop our expansive network of Fellows — providing financial, knowledge, and logistical support to almost 3.800 change leaders in 94 countries — Ashoka works in the Nordic region to share the wisdom of leading social entrepreneurs with a global audience and contribute positively to this rapidly changing world.
