1. Purpose

As a non-profit organization, Ashoka (“Ashoka,” “us” or “we”) depends on its donors to accomplish our mission of creating an “Everyone a Changemaker” world. We are grateful for the support of our donors and are committed to maintaining their trust and respecting their privacy.

This Online Donor Privacy Policy (the “Donor Privacy Policy”) explains how your information is collected and used at Ashoka when you use the Ashoka websites (collectively, the “Site”) to make a donation (“Online Donation”). This Donor Privacy describes Ashoka’s online information practices of and the way that data hich directly or indirectly identifies you (“Personal Data”) is collected and used when you make an Online Donation.  You can also view our general privacy policy, available here (the “Privacy Policy”).

2. What Data is collected?

In general, when you visit the Site we incidentally collect information such as your IP address and/or information about your browser or computing device that enables us to provide you with access to the Site and appropriate content, as described in the Privacy Policy. In order to make an Online Donation, we collect additional Personal Data, including your name, address, email address, billing address, credit card information, and giving history (when relevant).

3. How is Personal Data used?

Ashoka will use Personal Data collected from Donors for the following purposes:

• Processing donations;
• Distributing donation receipts;
• Sending donation confirmations and acknowledgments;
• Internal analysis and record keeping;
• Contacting Donors about changes in policy; and
• Adding to marketing and fundraising campaigns only if the Donor opts in.

*Credit card information is used only for donation or payment processing and is not retained for other purposes.*

4. Who has Access to the Data Provided When Donating?

We do not share or sell Donors’ Personal Data to any other organizations unless a donor has granted us specific permission to do so, nor do we send donor mailings on behalf of other organizations. We use third-party service providers to securely process credit card transactions.

We may share donors’ Personal Data with our partners, affiliates, consultants, and providers. Our agreements with these entities require that they keep your Personal Data confidential and only use your Personal Data to the extent necessary to perform their functions and not for any other purpose. We also contract other companies and individuals (collectively “Service Providers”) to perform functions on our behalf. The Personal Data we collect from your donation may be transferred to and stored at/processed by these Service Providers. 5. How Long Will Ashoka Retain Your Information?

If you donate to us through the Site, we will keep your payment information to process your payment and to enable us to appropriately process, settle, refund, or charge-back transactions, as well as to help identify fraud and to comply with anti-money laundering and other laws and rules that apply to us and to our financial service providers.

If you later decide that you do not want such information stored, you may contact us at [email protected] and we will coordinate with the processor to remove such information.

6. Changes to the Donor Privacy Policy

We will revise this Donor Privacy Policy from time to time. If we do so, we will post the new policy on our website and change the effective date, so we encourage you to review it frequently. Your continued use of the Site after changes in this Donor Privacy Policy will mean that you accept such changes except as otherwise required by local law.
